Why I Cancelled The Fuel Subsidy – Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has stated that withdrawing the petrol subsidy will not contribute to the country’s economic downfall.
On Thursday, he revealed this at a reception hosted by the Lagos state government in his honor.
Tinubu stated that the country’s finances should never be bled through the petrol subsidy under any circumstances.
“We will require the necessary resources to fulfill the promise we made to Nigerians during our campaign,” he stated.
“We must halt the bleeding of our finances caused by fuel subsidies and the arbitrary exchange regime.” We don’t have an option.
“In order to meet our obligations to Nigerians, we must reengineer the effectiveness of our resource control and management.”
“I could have said yes, I want a share of my benefit and to be a part of the arbitrage.” But, alas, God forbid. That is not why you chose me.”
According to the president, Nigerians will continue to see more and improved projects that will help both the young and the old.
Tinubu promised to collaborate with the National Assembly and state governors to carry out his administration’s renewed hope agenda.
The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has stated that his colleagues fully support the current administration’s goals and programs.
