Transfer: Chelsea Desperate To Beat Manchester United To Osimhen Signing
Chelsea is putting in great effort to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen before Manchester United.
According to reports, the two Premier League powerhouses are interested in the strong attacker.
Osimhen was contacted by Manchester United while playing for Ligue 1 team Lille, but he ultimately chose Napoli.
The Red Devils also have Tottenham Hotspur hitman Harry Kane on their radar.
Chelsea are however hopeful Osimhen’s love for their former striker, Didier Drogba, will give them the edge in landing the player.
Osimhen grew up idolising Drogba and was pictured in the club’s shirt while growing up in Lagos.
The 24-year-old is seen as the candidate to help the Blues address their attacking issue because they have had difficulty scoring goals this year.
In 29 games for Napoli this season across all competitions, the striker has 25 goals and four assists.
Dealing with Napoli, who are infamously difficult negotiators and are believed to be demanding a sum in the range of €100 million (£88 million) to €150 million (£132 million) for their talismanic hero, presents Chelsea with its greatest negotiation hurdle.
