Tinubu not to blame for current hardship – Dave Umahi
The current economic difficulties facing the nation should not be attributed to the administration of President Bola Tinubu, according to Minister of Works David Umahi.
In an interview with reporters in Ebonyi state on Sunday, March 3, Umahi explained that the difficulties were caused by a few earlier causes. He claimed that conflicts between farmers and herders, among other types of insecurity, had accumulated under previous governments and that this had a negative impact on food production.
“I oversaw the National Economic Council’s (NEC) committee tasked with settling disputes between farmers and herders, and I was able to do so in a number of states, particularly in the north. Although these settlements produced fruit, the issue has severely hampered food production by preventing farmers from accessing their land. It’s not feasible to
dissolve overnight.”
He said the South-East geopolitical zone for instance was presently free from incessant farmers and herders conflict. This, he said, has shown that the President had solved the region’s major problem.
“That is why we should not join the protests on economic hardship because if you remove the gunmen issue, the zone will be safe and farmers can work,” the minister said.
