“Thank you lord” – Funke Akindele celebrates as her movie ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ makes record-breaking N1billion in cinemas
Celebrity Nollywood producer and actress Funke Akindele has celebrated the record-breaking N1 billion box office success of her film “A Tribe Called Judah” on social media.
On Thursday, January 4, 2024, a statement from FilmOne Entertainment, the filmmaker’s production partner on the movie, confirmed the milestone.
In addition, Akindele is the director of Battle on Buka Street, the second-highest grossing film in Nollywood history (₦668 million), and Omo Ghetto: The Saga, the third-highest grossing film ever (₦636 million).
Moses Babatope, the Group Deputy Managing Director of FilmHouse Group, said the new milestone proves Nigerian cinema is in its golden era.

“Funke Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah reaching the one billion naira mark is an indication that despite the stiff competition from international streaming platforms, our local content continues to thrive, engaging audiences on a grand scale,” he said.
Taking to her verified Instagram page, the excited Funke Akindele wrote; “Thank you LORD!!! Thank you NIGERIA!! Thank you GHANA!!.”
