Rapper Jay Z’s Mother Marries Her Longterm Lesbian Lover
Gloria Carter, Jay-Z’s mother, married her longtime lover Roxanne Wilshire in a lavish wedding ceremony in New York City.
On the evening of Sunday, July 2, the pair exchanged vows in a star-studded ceremony attended by Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Tyler Perry, and Robin Roberts.
The wedding guests allegedly partied hard at the Tribeca celebration, which lasted until around 1 a.m.
As the night came to a conclusion, the newlywed couple waved the party farewell. Gloria looked chic in a white suit, while Roxanne dazzled in a gold and white shimmering gown.
Jay-Z has been a huge fan of Gloria since she came out as a lesbian in his 2017 song “Smile.” She sang about ‘living in the shadows’ as a gay lady in the song.
“Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian/Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian/Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate/Society shame and the pain was too much to take,” he rapped. “Cried tears of joy when you fell in love/Don’t matter to me if it’s a him or her/I just wanna see you smile through all the hate/Marie Antoinette, baby, let ’em eat cake.”
Jay-Z also revealed in an interview with David Letterman on the Netflix series ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction’ that he shed tears of joy when he learned that his mother had found love.
