Police officers jump over glass barrier to save woman trying to jump 54-story building (Video)
In breathtaking video, well-trained NYPD detectives are seen scaling a glass wall to save a distressed woman perched on a Manhattan rooftop 54 stories above the ground.
The 33-year-old lady was dramatically saved last Wednesday at a Midtown skyscraper on East 29th Street.
Bodycam footage revealed that when the emergency service unit (ESU) of the New York Police Department (NYPD) arrived, they were first separated from the woman by a glass partition, necessitating a rope operation for the officers to get to her.
Around 3:10 p.m., the Emergency Service Unit team received a report regarding a lady who seemed prepared to leap off the 54-story building, according to police.
Subsequently, the video shows a cop attached to a rope leaping over the glass wall to join a fellow ESU employee who was helping the woman perched on the edge.
The video then shows the two ESU detectives lifting the woman over the glass wall while police stood by to seize her. “You’re OK,” one of the rescuers comforted her.
The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital, authorities said.
“When the public needs help, they call the police,” the NYPD said in its social media post. “When the police need help, they call ESU.”
