NAFDAC nabs drug hawkers, confiscates N50m illegal drugs in Lagos raid
In Lagos State, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has stepped up its efforts to suppress drug vendors who operate in the Apapa neighbourhood and its surroundings.
The operation is a component of NAFDAC’s continuous battle to stop the illegal distribution and sale of unauthorised medications. It is being led by the agency’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate.
During the recent raid, numerous drug hawkers were apprehended, and a large cache of illicit drugs was seized.
Among the confiscated items were aphrodisiacs, narcotic substances such as tramadol, antibiotics, and various over-the-counter medications.
The combined street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be approximately Fifty Million Naira.
The individuals apprehended in connection with the illegal drug trade will face prosecution.
Furthermore, the seized drugs are slated for destruction.
