Police detectives detained a man who is suspected of forcing his two daughters to become his wives against their mother’s will and of abusing them sexually.
When one of the suspect’s victims came forward, the police were able to apprehend the suspect, who was then brought before the court and given bail.
The Ministry of Health is concerned about the rising number of child abuse cases across the country, many of which, according to reports, go unreported, at the same time as this event.
The Kenyan public expressed their outrage on social media and urged the government to move against child abusers, asking that those responsible be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Many people expressed dissatisfaction over the suspect’s release on bail, worried that, if not dealt with correctly, he might keep abusing his victims.
The Ministry of Health claims that because many victims are too ashamed or afraid to come forward, there may be more instances of child abuse than have been recorded.
To address this issue and ensure the welfare and safety of children across the country, the government must take proper action.
