Kenyan Woman Arraigned For Damaging Her Boyfriend’s Car And TV Over Cheating Allegations
Imelda Mwendwa Kigunda, a Kenyan lady, was charged on May 17, 2023, before Kibera Principal Magistrate Renee Kitagwa with allegedly destroying her boyfriend’s car by hitting the windscreen and his television, both worth Sh235, 605.
Imelda contested every charge brought against her during her arraignment.
The offence was perpetrated on January 18, 2023, at Gemini Club in Nairobi county, according to testimony given in court.
All of the items belonged to Vincent Alata, the case’s complainant.
The court documents state that the two got into a heated dispute over some charges of cheating, which resulted in the said offense.
Through her attorney Brian Mwenda, the defendant argued for a reasonable bond term release in court.
According to Mwenda, his client was an upstanding citizen who posed no flight danger.
He instructed the court to provide her with all the supporting documentation the prosecution planned to use throughout the entire trial.
The accused was ordered to be released on a Sh100,000 bond or an alternative Sh50,000 cash bail by the magistrate.
She ordered that the matter move forward on May 31 for pre-trial proceedings and additional instructions.
