He was charged with breach of trust, deception, and theft of N300,000 belonging to one Zubairu Murtala through an online bank transfer in front of a Shari’a court.
The victim (Zubairu) stated that the defendant stole his N300,000 through an internet transfer without his permission when he gave him his phone to build an Opay wallet account for him, according to the prosecutor, Aliyu Abidin, who testified in court.
After having the allegations read before him, the defendant entered a plea of guilty, claiming that he had used the funds to place a wager with BetNaija.
He was given three months for breach of trust and six months for theft by the presiding judge, Nura Yusuf Ahmad, who also required him to pay back the N300,000 that had been taken.
