Israeli Army Reports Discovery Of Approximately 1500 Hamas Militant Bodies in Israel
About 1,500 remains of Hamas militants have been discovered in Israel near the Gaza Strip, according to information released by the Israeli army on Tuesday, October 10. At the same time that the Israeli military was attacking the Palestinian stronghold with airstrikes, this announcement was made.
The discovery was announced to reporters by military spokesperson Richard Hecht, who also noted that security forces had mostly reclaimed control of the border with Gaza. He pointed out that since the previous night there had been no new infiltrations, but he issued a warning that they could still happen.
Furthermore, Hecht mentioned that the evacuation of communities near the border was nearly complete and that the military had deployed 35 battalions to the border area. He emphasized that they were also establishing infrastructure for future operations.
Israel has been facing a deadly attack by Hamas militants who breached the border fence amid a barrage of rocket fire on Saturday, October 7, resulting in the deaths of over 900 people inside Israel. In response, Israel has launched a large-scale air and artillery bombardment of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the reported deaths of at least 687 individuals in the coastal enclave.
Before dawn on Tuesday, the Israeli military conducted strikes on what they identified as Hamas targets in Gaza, particularly in the Rimal neighborhood and the southern city of Khan Yunis.
