Forex: Lagos court strikes out charge against 19 BDC operators
On March 4, Justice Lewis Allagoa of a Federal High Court in Lagos dismissed the complaint against 19 Bureau De Change (BDC) Operators as a result of the case’s withdrawal.
The BDC operators faced accusations of conspiring, operating a forex trading business without a licence from regulatory bodies, and making different amounts of money from their illegal trading. They were reported to have perpetrated the crime in the Lagos city on February 21.
Attorney Panti of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Umar Bello of the prosecution team told the court during the case’s call that they wished to have the charges against the defendants withdrawn. Umar claimed to have gotten a call to withdraw from work from his supervisors.
The BDC operators that were to be arraigned before the court were Ibrahim Jubril, Abdullahi Abubakar, Ibrahim Hassan, Adamu Isiaka, Ibrahim Abdulrahman, Jubril Hassan, Mohammed Isoaka, Mohammed Aminu and Adamu Ibrahim. Others were Hassan Amadu, Salisu Hamidu, Mahmoud Mohammed, Murtala Usman, Hassan Yakubu, Abdullahi Kabiru, Ali Sadam. Ahmadu Yusuf, Abdullahi Hussain and Alhaji Sido.
