EPL: Who’s Advising You – Joe Cole Slams Chelsea’s Owners Over New Signings
Joe Cole, a former winger for Chelsea, voiced amazement at the team’s hiring practices under its new owners Todd Boehly and Co.
Under Todd Boehly, the Blues have spent approximately 600,000,000 pounds on new players in just two transfer windows.
But the team failed to sign a top nine player during the January transfer window and the summer of 2022, perhaps because they were relying on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is currently nowhere to be found.
In addition, Chelsea has Romelu Lukaku out on loan at Inter Milan, while Kai Havertz has served as the team’s primary striker for the bulk of the year.
“They [Chelsea owners] likely have to take a good hard look in the mirror and ask, ‘Right, who’s advising us on these players? When we might have had a number nine, why do we have nine number 10 wingers?
We don’t know the specifics, but I believe the issue stems from the hiring practices during the previous 12 months.
“You can’t count on any guy to score 20 goals for you. No member of this team has ever in their career scored more than 20 goals in a season. What leads you to believe that they will now do that? That is the main issue.
