EPL: Rio Ferdinand Criticizes Chelsea’s Newest Signings For Lacking Balance.
Rio Ferdinand, a former defender for Manchester United, has criticized some of Chelsea’s acquisitions from the last few transfer windows.
Under Todd Boehly, the Blues spent approximately £600,000,000 on new acquisitions in just two transfer windows.
They have an agreement in place to pay £53 million to acquire RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku.
Last season, Kunku scored 35 goals across all competitions; this season, he has 17 goals across all competitions.
Ferdinand, though, is not sure that the Frenchman is the solution to Chelsea’s goal drought because he has not been performing as a conventional striker.
Nkunku will be joining them in the summer, although he isn’t a pure number nine, he added on BT Sport.
He is developing as a young player who is playing in a free role behind the striker or coming from the wide areas. As a result, the squad lacks balance.
