EPL: After Potter Was Fired, Lampard Unexpectedly Took Over As Chelsea’s Head Coach.
According to the UK Sun, Todd Boehly, a co-owner of Chelsea, may give Frank Lampard the opportunity to return to the team as a temporary manager.
Lampard would receive a contract good through the end of current campaign.
On Tuesday night, the ex-England midfielder was present at Stamford Bridge to see the scoreless draw with Liverpool.
After being fired by Everton in January as a result of a horrendous run of defeats that put the Toffees in the relegation zone, Lampard has been without a job.
The 44-year-prior old’s tenure as Chelsea’s manager came to an end after 18 months.
While at the club, he led the Blues to an FA Cup final and qualified them for the Champions League while serving a suspension that barred him from making any signings for two transfer windows.
After Graham Potter was fired on Sunday, Chelsea is once again looking for a new permanent manager and would prefer to conduct an extensive search for his replacement.
In order to guide the Blues through the rest of the season until they find a new manager, Boehly may yet turn to Lampard.
