Todd Boehly, owner of Chelsea, reportedly indicated interest in purchasing Strasbourg of the Ligue 1.
Roman Abramovich placed the club up for sale when he was sanctioned in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the American tycoon finished his buyout of the Blues at the end of May.
Boehly, who already shares ownership with the Los Angeles Sparks and Los Angeles Lakers in addition to the Los Angeles Dodgers in baseball, is looking to grow his sports business. He has discussed a potential takeover with Marc Keller, president of Strasbourg, who has been in charge of the French team since 2012.
L’Equipe reports that Boehly and his associates are interested in acquiring a 100% ownership in Strasbourg. The team is presently 15th in the table in the first league of French football after winning four of their 24 games so far this year.
After being rejected by Santos, there were rumors that Boehly intended to investigate the idea of purchasing a club in Brazil last September.
