Gunmen Kidnap Journalist In Imo

On Thursday, July 27, gunmen are said to have kidnapped a broadcast journalist named Chinonso Uba, also known as Nonso Nkwa, in Owerri, the capital of the Imo state.
Eyewitnesses claim that masked, heavily armed guys riding in a Hilux, a Lexus 350, and an ES 330 automobile approached Uba.
He had just finished anchoring his morning program on Ozisa FM, Owerri in the premises of Assumpta Cathedral of the Owerri Catholic Archdiocese and was riding in his Highlander SUV when the attackers, who were laying siege, double-crossed him in front of Holy Ghost College Secondary School junction.
The source said that the gunmen forced the activist-journalist into one of their vehicles and sped off.
Confirming the incident, the manager of Ozisa FM, Rev Fr Raymond Nzereogu, said he was yet to ascertain if the journalist was arrested or kidnapped.
”We don’t know if he was arrested or Kidnapped. We have reached out to the State Security Service people and they said that they were not responsible. We are heading to the police to confirm. We will keep you posted on any further development.” he said
The state police command is yet to confirm the incident.
