The now recognizable ‘Molue’ buses, which were the cheapest and most well-liked mode of public transportation in Lagos State between the 1970s and the late 2000s, are quickly being replaced by the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses launched by the Lagos State Government.

However, the city had Leyland Tiger buses that were equally well-liked on the Lagos roads before today’s government-owned air-conditioned BRT buses and the yellow painted rickety Molue buses that take you across the city for just N100.
According to the itinerary on the bus, the one image that has been shared depicts passengers attempting to board a Leyland Tiger bus that runs between Lagos Island and the Yaba district of the state and is most likely from the 1950s or 1960s.
The Leyland Tiger buses were generally packed with passengers, with the majority of them standing on the bus, much like the Molue buses, which were based on the Mercedes-Benz 911 and Bedford trucks.
