45-Year-old Man Remanded For Allegedly Stabbing Man To Death In Lagos
Rabiu Harana was placed on remand by a Yaba Magistrates’ Court after being accused of fatally stabbing Ismaila Sunday with a knife.
On Monday, the 45-year-old was charged with murder and appeared before Magistrate O.Y. Adefope.
The defendant allegedly committed the crime at Happy Home in Kirikiri Town, Lagos State, on April 16, 2023, at approximately 12.13 am, according to the prosecution, Haruna Magaji.
Magaji said in court that the accused repeatedly stabbed the victim in the neck with a knife till he passed away.
The charge read in part, “That you, Rabiu Haruna, on April 16, 2023, around 12.13am at Happy Home Kirikiri Town, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District unlawfully killed one Ismaila Sunday by stabbing him to death with a knife on his neck and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 222 and punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”
The defendant’s plea was not taken.
The prosecutor prayed the court to remand the defendant pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
Magistrate Adefope, granting the request, remanded the defendant to the Kirikiri Custodial Centre pending legal advice from the DPP.
She also adjourned the case till June 16, 2023.
