Six People Accused Of Killing 10-Year-Old Makiyah Wilson Will Go On Trial Soon (Watch Video)
It’s anticipated that trials for six persons charged in Makiyah Wilson’s gruesome 2018 murder will start on Thursday.
D.C. Superior Court will host the opening statements for Gregory Taylor, Quentin Michals, Qujuan Thomas, Isaiah Murchison, Darrise Jeffers, and Marquell Cobbs, according to court authorities.
The six are all accused with first-degree murder in relation to Makiyah’s passing. On July 16, 2018, shots were fired into a crowd, killing the young girl as she was purchasing ice cream on 53rd Street in her Northeast D.C. neighborhood. According to the police, the gunfire also injured four other people, including Makiyah’s sister.
Authorities think Makiyah was accidentally shot during a gunshot that was intended as payback for a 2017 attack in which several of the alleged gunman were injured.
Eleven people in total have been detained and charged in the case.
Police ask that anybody with information call them at (202) 727-9099.
