North Carolina 6-Year-Old Boy Caught With Loaded Gun With Bullets At School (Watch Video)

 

In North Carolina, authorities discovered a 6-year-old kid carrying an unloaded gun in his backpack on Tuesday morning.

Just after 10:45 a.m., Fairview Elementary administrators in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, alerted the school resource officer.

 

The 6-year-old was found to have a 9mm handgun in his backpack after a preliminary investigation by the school resource officer, which another youngster informed the teacher about.

 

After securing the child’s backpack, the teacher led them out of the classroom.

The district claimed that the boy never threatened anyone with the weapon, which was never seen.

The student will be penalized in accordance with the conduct policy of Nash County Public Schools.

According to officials, the staff’s quick thinking prevented a “possible serious incident.”

The events of today should serve as a warning to all gun owners to keep their firearms securely to prevent access by children, according to Rocky Mountain Police Chief Robert Hassell in a statement to media. “This could have been avoided.”

Asserting that it takes “incidents like this extremely seriously, we want to be open and honest with you about the situation,” the district added.

The district issued a statement encouraging all kids to speak up to a teacher or other trusted adult if they notice anything.

The incident occurs more than a month after a first-grader at a Virginia elementary school, who was 6 years old, shot a teacher during a physical altercation in the classroom, leaving the teacher with “life-threatening” wounds and renewing calls from parents for increased classroom safety and supervision.
