Mom Sentenced To Life In Prison For Murdering Her Son – Eli Hart Killing (Watch Video)
Julissa Thaler, the mother of Eli Hart, was found guilty of killing her 6-year-old son on May 20, 2022, and she was given a life sentence.
Thaler was found guilty of first-degree murder on Thursday, Feb. 16, and was given a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
She declared her innocence, uttered an expletive, and labeled everyone “trash” before the judge gave the verdict. (Watch in the above player.)
Eli’s father, Tory Hart, and his stepmother, Josie Josephson, both spoke before she was sentenced, occasionally wiping away tears. (Player is located below.)
We now have a legal resolution to this terrible tragedy. But nothing will ever be able to compensate for the gap Eli left in the world. The Hennepin County Attorney, Mary Moriarty, released a statement on Thursday in which she expressed her hope that the family may gradually move on and finally find some kind of peace.
According to the authorities, Thaler, 28, of Spring Park, shot Eli up to nine times in her car with a shotgun before concealing his body in the trunk. On May 20, 2022, Thaler was observed by Orono Police driving on the rim of her vehicle and having a window damaged. Eli’s body was located in the trunk as the police were taking Thaler home. Her arrest followed.

In the meantime, Tory Hart, Eli Hart’s father, filed a wrongful death case earlier this year in connection with the loss of his son, demanding more than $75,000 in damages.
According to the lawsuit, Eli received services from Dakota County Social Services, and Tory Hart is suing, alleging negligence on the part of the county and its staff. The defendants in the complaint were Dakota County and two of its workers, Beth Dehner and Sherri Larson.
Prior to his passing, Tory Hart had been engaged in a custody battle for his son. Josie Josephson, Tory Hart’s ex-wife, told FOX 9 that the boy’s biological mother battled drug addiction and mental health problems, but despite their repeated requests for help, she was given full custody of Eli before he passed away.
