Man Arrested For Kill!ng Suspect’s Ex-Wife And Six Other People In Mississippi – Says Sheriff (Watch Video)
Friday’s shootings in Tate County, Mississippi left six people dead and one injured when a man opened fire on his ex-wife and maybe other family members, according to Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance.
Richard Dale Crum, 52, the suspect, was detained following the alleged rampage and is now being accused with first-degree murder in connection with the incident, according to the sheriff’s office. The department stated that additional charges are anticipated to be brought.
Around 11 a.m. ET, the suspect pulled into the parking lot of a store in Arkabutla, a small rural town in northern Mississippi, and opened fire, killing the driver of the car next to him, according to Lance. This is when authorities received the first 911 call. No other passengers in the car suffered injuries.
According to Lance, the alleged shooter entered the store before leaving and heading to the house of his ex-wife. According to Lance, the suspect shot and killed his ex-wife before striking her engaged boyfriend, who was also present, in the house.
After spotting a vehicle that matched its description in front of a house that officials suspected belonged to the suspect, deputies were able to catch up to him, according to Lance.
On a small road behind the suspect’s home, authorities found two men who had been shot and killed. One was found on the road and the other was in a vehicle, Lance said.
Another two victims were found shot and killed in a house neighboring the suspect’s home, Lance said. According to Lance, deputies believe the suspect might be related to the victims, a man and woman.
