Grandfather Dies At Dunn Loring Metro Station After Dog Leash Gets Caught In Train Door (Watch Video)
A leash that was attached to a man was fatally caught in the train door on Wednesday at Dunn Loring Station in Fairfax County.

Harold Riley, age 50, has been confirmed as the deceased Metro commuter by his daughter.
He had two daughters, and he had four grandchildren. Daisy was his assistance dog, a dog. With his dog by his side, Riley was exiting the train. The dog was still inside the train as the doors closed, and the man was somehow connected to the leash.
The victim was dragged off the platform and onto the tracks as the train departed the station.
Around 1:30 p.m., a SkyFox camera captured the scene as investigators combed the area for clues and tried to piece together what had happened.
Before pulling away from the station, the train’s operator, according to Metro Transit Police, opened and shut two doors as a safety check.
According to police, Riley passed away from his wounds in the hospital.
After hearing what happened, some of the people we spoke to were troubled.
Jack Schulte said, “It’s a little worrisome that that might happen and that there aren’t any precautions in place to stop that from occurring to anybody else.”
Lorenzo Allensworth said, “I ride the Metro every day; it’s not something you see or hear about every day, and it’s sad. Such a tragic tale.
Despite not wanting to prioritize the dog over the human, Allensworth continued, “I’m delighted that at least one party is fine, and I hope someone reaches out and adopts the dog.”
This is still a matter of investigation, according to Transit Police Fox
Pets are permitted on Metro as long as they are in a carrier. However, passengers are welcome to be accompanied by service animals.
Transit Police claims that the dog did not appear to be a service animal, but the victim’s daughter told FOX 5 that the dog was wearing a service animal vest at the time of the incident.
The dog was once in the custody of the police, but the daughter claims she adopted the dog after rescuing her from a shelter since she couldn’t keep her because of her other pets.
Service on the Orange line between Vienna and West Falls Church has resumed, although WMATA expects delays.
