FG Will Obey S’Court Ruling Against Banning Old Naira Notes, Moves To Vacate Order – Malami
Abubakar Malami, Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, declared yesterday that while the federal government would abide by the Supreme Court’s decision to halt the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) demonetisation policy, it would also take the necessary actions to overturn the temporary injunction.
The CBN deadline for the demonetisation program had been suspended by the Supreme Court in a decision on Wednesday, and a hearing date of February 15 had been set.
Malami made it clear that even though the federal government intended to appeal the ruling and would do so in accordance with the law, it would nonetheless do it out of respect for the rule of law.
