Manchester United To Announce New Signing In Coming Hours
Manchester United are reportedly set to announce the signing of Paul Woolston after the goalkeeper was released by Newcastle . Woolston impressed while on trial with United earlier this summer and the 20 – year – old is understood to have reached an agreement with the Premier League giants .
The Red Devils have been keen to bring a new ‘ keeper to the academy to provide competition for Under – 23 starlets Matej Kovar and Alex Fojticek.
According to Manchester Evening News , United will officially unveil Woolston in the coming hours .
Newcastle decided to release Woolston at the end of last season as Karl Darlow , Rob Elliot and Freddie Woodman were all ahead of him in the pecking order at St James’ Park .
Woolston is set to sign a contract with United until the end of the 2018 / 19 campaign and is expected to join up with Richard Sbragia ’s U 23 side.
Goalkeepers Dean Henderson , Joel Pereira and Kieran O’Hara were all allowed to leave United on loan in the summer .
Max Johnstone , Ilias Moutha – Sebtaoui and Theo Richardson were also released by the club.
